News from See Saw

Hello, It's been a while!

We have so much to tell you all. So grab a glass of your favourite See Saw wine I'm having a Pinot Gris and we'll have a quick catch up on up on what's happening!

 Vintage 2016  Blossoms

2016 has been a fantastic year for See Saw and the Orange Wine Region. The weather through vintage was dry and all our fruit came off beautifully.  We hand picked our premium parcels and the went off to produce some trophy winning Sauvignon Blanc, trophy winning Chardonnay and awarding winning Prosecco

After the action and go go go of vintage, we sat along a long lunch table high on a hillside in April with Mandagery Creek Venison during Orange F.O.O.D. Week.    Big views and beautiful food combined with great wine and wonderful conversations. Sophie and Tim Hanson from Mandagery Creek Venison had chef Daniel Backhouse join them for this truly unique paddock to plate experience. A little sunburn on the cheeks but the icy cold Pinot Gris cooled down the warmest of faces!

 The Big Wet

So it's no surprise to anyone that we have had a very wet winter.

A 1 in 100 year rain event with 2 small snow falls. Visitors to Orange experienced four seasons in one day which only drew more people closer to the open fire!  Our dams are briming with clean fresh water. Pruning went on regardless and through snow and wind and frost the guys and girls pruned all 3 sites ready for spring bud burst.

The dams overflow

Prosecco - A first for Orange

We here at See Saw have gone out on a limb and produced Orange’s first ever Prosecco. Originating in the cool alpine climate of Veneto in north-east Italy, Prosecco is a light and lively sparkling wine with a dry finish and a fresh fruit flavour through the mid palate. The high altitude and cool climate of Orange is perfect for the production of this fresh, crisp, relaxed yet stylish, celebratory drink. We treated Bloggers from Sydney to a special tasting in our Balmoral Vineyard shearing shed. The rain and wind raged outside whilst we sipped and cheers each other on a tasty little drop!

 Orange Wine Festival

Orange Wine Festival is celebrating it's 20th anniversary! (Do we call Orange Gen Z? The Next Gen) Well it's certainly grown up with plenty on offer.  We kicked it off with the 2016 Orange Wine Show.  Your MC for the night, See Saws very own Justin Jarrett! Cracked a few dad jokes along the way, and we were more than pleased to see that our newest member to the See Saw team - the Prosecco picked up a silver award! Chief Judge Gary  Baldwin said "Prosecco has huge potential in the Orange region".  Well we think so, proof is in the bottle!

The Night Market on Friday Night was huge! Our See Saw Trike was the life of the part with lots of delicious wines kept cool and crisp.
